Resolved

  1. Recommit to the Riot 4 Austerity. Last year, I dutifully tracked our gasoline, electric, natural gas, water, consumer goods, and food spending from July on, only to lose my spreadsheet in a hard drive failure. Although I had either backed up or was able to recover everything else, that one file was lost to electrons. This year, I resolve to keep track of all seven categories and, in particular, I would like to see us make the goal of 10% in at least two of the seven categories: I anticipate gasoline and waste are the most promising.
  2. Organize and expand the recipes section of the blog so that it can be used as my virtual “cookbook”. Write down/type recipes as I come up with them rather delaying and then forgetting exactly what I did.
  3. Accelerate my progress towards “figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.”. After years of pushing away the little voice in my head I finally acknowledged last year that my chosen career path is not the right one for me and now is the time to change. Just one hitch…I don’t know what the right path (or paths) might be. This year I will continue to research, read, and volunteer to explore my passions. I am going to consider taking classes, teaching, writing, and additional volunteer opportunities.
  4. Develop the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe. I’ve got sugar cookies, brownies, and chocolate chocolate chip cookies well in hand, but the simple chocolate chip cookie eludes me.
  5. Allow myself and my family more down time. Take an entire day (or more) to snooze and nurse in bed with the new baby. Spend days with Thomas where we have many more hours outside than inside. Go on more dates with my husband. Above all, remember that life is a marathon and not a sprint.
