@Luke,
we use these:

Instead of washing the sandwich bags. We just throw them into the laundry at the end of the day, simply using a small fraction of the laundry water that is already in use.

Hmmm, so many guilty pleasures. I just can't give them up so I won't get inot it,

I need to find out how much of our yard has to be dry so we can enjoy the extended showers.m Our fuzzy children seem to understand the running water thing as well.

We are also reusing plastic sandwich bags and need to find a better solution as well. One problem is if you use tupperware containers then you need to wash them and there goes that water again.

@Ben,
You are in good company with Jeff. He too, loves baseball, so much so he has spreadsheets tracking statistics, etc. And I don't think that there is anything wrong with the general concept of professional sports for entertainment. Like you said, it's the way MLB (and NFL and NBA) now run that is the problem. Baseball itself is a beautiful
thing.

@Jeff,
We need to find out if old-school style bread boxes actually work. There's also the idea of just not buying them anymore. If we didn't have them around, I will be we would find a solution.

Zip-lock bags. Totally wasteful and even though they are made of recyclable plastic... they themselves are not recyclable in a majority of regions because they do not have the recycle triangle, and they are too light and blow around recycling centers. Gina and I have tried to eliminate their use in our house. We have reusable sandwich bags, reusable velcro snack bags, and small glass-lidded containers. But there are just some things that we use them for and haven't figured out a viable replacement. But I vow to work on this more. Down with Zip-lock!!
