About Mendolonium
Mendolonium is written by Gina. Gina leads a triple life…a few days a week she works part-time in a highly technical field advising the government. The other days she stays home with her two young boys, growing most of her family’s fruits and vegetables on an urban lot, baking more desserts than is reasonable for four people, and labeling everything in sight with her beloved label maker. Two nights a week she trades in her high heels for a chef’s hat while studying baking and pastry arts at a local culinary school. On occasion, her worlds collide and she has had more than one conversation about future U.S. government policy whilst nursing a sleeping baby as bread bakes in the oven. Needless to say, she enjoys multitasking. Gina is married to the handsome Jeff and has two sons and a daughter, Thomas (five years old), Theodore (three years old), Anna (baby). Besides growing and cooking food, being a mother, and getting riled up about issues of food, education, health, and sustainability Gina still isn’t entirely sure what she wants to be when she grows up. She contemplates such disparate possibilities as agriculture policy advocate, chef, family practice physician, or sustainable farmer and hopes that maybe there is, actually, a way to do it all. She hopes writing here will help her figure it all out as well as inspire her, and others, to lead a sustainable life.
